Turkeyfoot Avenue Pathway Public Meeting Scheduled for March 23rd

IN BRIEF:  A meeting has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23rd in the Community Room at the Zionsville Town Hall to present the Turkeyfoot Avenue Pathway alignment options. A survey of the east side of Turkeyfoot Ave. has been completed and digitally mapped. Public comment will be taken at this time after which the Town engineers will assist staff in making a recommendation for one side of Turkeyfoot Ave. over the other. Design is expected to be complete by June, 2010, after which time any necessary easement and/or ROW acquisitions will be pursued. Spring 2010 Brush & Limb Collection

IN BRIEF:  Beginning the week of April 19, we will be providing curbside collection of spring pruning and yard debris. Limit on size is 6 inches in diameter. Grass clippings, leaves, decorative grass, vines, stumps, root balls, construction lumber, firewood, and wooden fencing will not be collected. All material must be placed curbside by 7:30 a.m. on your designated pick-up day in order to guarantee collection.

Severe Weather Preparedness Week

IN BRIEF:  Governor Mitch Daniels has proclaimed March 14th through 20th, 2010 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Indiana. The National Weather Service, in conjunction with the Indiana State Police and Public Safety Commission, Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Department of Education, the Indiana Broadcaster’s Association, the Red Cross, and Amateur Radio Operators will conduct a statewide test of communication systems on Wednesday, March 17 between 10:15 A.M. and 10:30 A.M. EDT and between 7:30 P.M. and 7:45 P.M. EDT. If weather postpones the tests, make-up tests are Thursday, March 18 at the same times listed.

The Zionsville Parks Department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Park Department Technician within the Department

This position carries out tasks related to maintenance of park facilities and property as defined by the Assistant Superintendent for Maintenance Services.

This position carries out labor activities under the guidance of department supervisors with a minimum of instruction and oversight.

Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment normally used in park maintenance is required. Most work will take place outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The technician’s work in the parks will bring him/her into casual contact with the public.

This position requires a valid driver’s license, and a demonstrated skill in the use of equipment and tools normally used in park maintenance. It requires the ability to lift, walk, and climb in all field conditions. It requires basic reading comprehension, and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. A minimum of a high school diploma and 3 years experience in parks related maintenance activity or related field is required. Application Deadline: Open until filled
