2008 July 4th Celebration in Lions Park
Publication date: 06/20/2008 IN BRIEF: Quick notes from the Zionsville Police Department After many years of directing traffic for the July 4th Celebration, The Zionsville Police Department has concluded that our current traffic plan is the most efficient for a safe and quick return to your home. Last year traffic was cleared out within 25-30 minutes of the conclusion of the fireworks. Traffic plan for the conclusion of the fireworks: •Handicap parking will be available on Elm Street adjacent to Lion’s Park. This traffic will need to exit North on Elm Street. •All vehicles parked in Lion’s Park will leave the park East bound SR 334 towards US 421. •Traffic westbound SR 334 will not be permitted West of Raintree Drive. •Traffic Downtown Zionsville will not be permitted eastbound SR 334 East of Zionsville Rd. Traffic will be diverted southbound on Zionsville Road. •1st Street will be blocked at Cedar St. Traffic will not be permitted South on 1st Street past Cedar St. Indiana Fireworks Laws Key Points •Fireworks can only be purchased by someone over 18 years of age. •Children can only be in possession of and use fireworks when an adult is present. •Fireworks can only be used on the user’s property, or on private property where the user has permission (FIREWORKS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN LION’S PARK). •Fireworks can not land on someone else’s property. •Fireworks are only to be used between 9:00am and 11:00pm, with the exception of 12:00am on July 4th.
Increase in thefts from the area.
Publication date: 05/20/2008 IN BRIEF: The Zionsville Police Department has seen an increase in the area of thefts from vehicles. Please be sure to remove or secure anything of value from you cars. Please be sure to lock your vehicles and home. Remember that most thefts are crimes of opportunity. You can help lower your chances of becoming a victim by removing the opportunity. The Zionsville Police Department will be increasing patrols in the neighborhood areas of town. We look to increase the interaction between officers and persons in the area in an attempt to locate and identify the person or persons responsible for these crimes. If you should hear or see suspicious activity in your area, please do not hesitate to call the police. With your help, perhaps we can squelch this activity in the near future. Remember, it may just be a noise you hear in the night and a call to 911 that will help us place these people where they need to be…in jail. A possible suspect vehicle description in these cases is a black, lowered passenger car, possibly Honda Accord or similar style vehicle with a loud exhaust. |
