Suspect Sketch

Event Information:

On 12-08-09 at or about 5:00 p.m.while in front of her residence speaking with a neighbor, our victim noticed what she described as a gold colored SUV pull into her neighborhood and then into a neighbors driveway and sit for a while. The vehicle then drove through the area slowly and parked down the street from her residence on the roadway. Our victim then finished talking with the neighbor and went back inside residence. Shortly after entering her home, she heard a knock at the front door and she answered the door. She then stated that a white male approx. 40 years old with a thin build was standing at her door, she further advised that the subject had dark hair a mustache with some gray in it, was about six feet tall and was clean cut. She advised he was wearing a blue and white checkered shirt, blue jeans, a wind breaker and carried a portfolio binder that had a Velcro closure. The male subject then advised that he was “with the city” and that the board had made some changes and some utilities were going to be run though her yard and he wished to show her where they were going to be located. He then indicated that it would be in the back yard area. Our victim then secured the front door and went out the back to meet with the man. He then led her to the side of her house where she had no view of either the front or back door and spoke with her about the location of the utilities. He then led her to the back of her property before leaving. The victim stated that in all she was out of the house for about fifteen to twenty minutes. Once she walked back in the house, she then noticed that the bedroom and basement area had been ransacked and that multiple items had been stolen. It is believed that another subject, description unknown, made entry into the residence while she was occupied outside. This subject then stole the items and fled out the front door of her residence. Police units checked the area but were not able to locate the suspect or the vehicle described by the victim.

Fraudulent phishing email referencing a CDC sponsored State Vaccination Program.

The CDC/OCISO Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) has received reports of fraudulent emails (phishing) referencing a CDC sponsored State Vaccination Program. The messages request that users must create a personal H1N1 (swine flu) Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov website. The message then states that anyone that has reached the age of 18 has to have his/her personal Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov site.

The CDC has NOT implemented a state vaccination program requiring registration on www.cdc.gov. Users that click on the email are at risk of having malicious code installed on their system. OCISO reminds users to take the following steps to reduce the risk of being a victim of a phishing attack:

Do not follow unsolicited links and do not open or respond to unsolicited email messages.

Use caution when visiting un-trusted websites.

Use caution when entering personal information online.

A reminder to all walkers and runners

Please remember to make use of sidewalks adjacent to streets. We have received reports of some people walking in the street on west Oak Street among other places. There have been sidewalks installed along most streets to facilitate safe pedestrian movement. If no sidewalk is available, pedestrians may walk in the street as close to the edge of the roadway as possible. Please remember that it is a violation of state law for a pedestrian to walk upon a roadway if there is an accessible sidewalk adjacent to the road. Your help is greatly appreciated in assisting to make Zionsville a safer place for all to enjoy.
