Police Officer - The current application process for Police Officer is CLOSED. Applications are always accepted for future openings. Patrol Division officers are charged with Criminal and Traffic Patrol for the Town of Zionsville. Officers respond to all calls for law enforcement. These duties include but are not limited to investigations of crimes, investigations of suspicious circumstances and observing for criminal activity. Officers are responsible for preparing written reports documenting information from citizens for the purpose of investigations and to prepare all required court documents. Officers work to ensure the safety and security of the residents of the town and those who visit here. Patrol Division Officers are also responsible for maintaining safety on the roadways and streets in the town. This responsibility equates to traffic enforcement. Officers are charged with ensuring compliance with all Indiana motor vehicle laws and Town Ordinances. Basic Requirements The applicant must be a United States citizen. The applicant must be between 21 and 35 years of age. The applicant's weight and height must be proportional and be in good health. The applicant must be a high school graduate as evidenced by a diploma or G.E.D. The applicant must have no felony criminal convictions. The applicant must agree to physical and psychological examinations. The applicant must have minimal traffic and / or misdemeanor arrests. The applicant must have a minimal traffic accident record. The applicant must pass an oral review board and submit to a character background investigation. The applicant must submit to a criminal background investigation including fingerprints. The applicant must pass a departmental driving test. The applicant must take written examinations. The applicant must complete all other requirements as may be directed by the Chief of Police and / or the Town Council. The applicant must agree to submit to a polygraph examination All officers hired after 01-01-06 must pass an annual physical agility and physical exam to retain their employment status with the Zionsville Police Department. Physical Fitness Standards Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Reserve Police Officer - The application process for Reserve Police Officer is OPEN. Reserve Division officers are charged with Criminal and Traffic Patrol for the Town of Zionsville. Officers respond to all calls for law enforcement.
